The Founders

Nicolai Iversen
Chief Executive Officer

Mechanical engineer and former researcher with a scientific publication record within space systems. Previously participated in developing GSE and Carbon Fibre Components for e.g. James Webb Space Telescope, ESA ARIEL, Sentinel-2, as well as managing CubeSat subsystem groups. Nicolai also brings strong commercial expertise from past positions as Business Development Manager and Partner at Odense Robotics Startup Fund.  

Simon Vilms Pedersen
Chief Technology Officer

PhD and former Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in spectroscopy and imaging, with former experience from Imperial College London. Simon has many years of experience working with hyperspectral imaging and artificial intelligence based remote sensing. Simon is a previous winner of the ESA ‘Space 4 Sustainability’ Award, and is a consultant on the METIS facility definition team for Lunar Gateway.

Mads Toudal Frandsen
Chief Project Officer

PhD and Professor of Physics at SDU and prior experience from Oxford University. He leads research and student teams at SDU Galaxy within CubeSats and stratospheric balloon development. Mads’ has managed high performing teams for more than 10 years including projects to monitor critical infrastructure and perform climate observations using Spaceline Labs’ technology and CubeSats.

Altogether, as former and current researchers the founders published more than 85 scientific articles, 4 patents and founded the University of Southern Denmark regional hub for space: SDU Galaxy. The founders have been recognized for their work in the Space Industry by invitation to National Space Partnerships, ESA panels & awards. Based on years of research and business development experience within earth observation systems and the development of satellite systems, the team founded Spaceline Labs in 2024.
